How does Snapshop work?

Snapshop works in 3 simple steps:

  1. For each product, you start by shooting your product code (barcodes/SKU) with the phone app. If you don’t have a product code, it’s fine. You then shoot as many photos of your product as you need. When you are done shooting this product, you can review your pictures (swipe right)  and then upload to our server by tapping “Send Pictures to Editing”.
  2. Our team receive your photos. They edit and optimize them for your eCommerce website and match them to your product codes.
  3. Our team then send you a customizable one-click importation CSV file by email. It already contains your edited photos linked to their product codes. You can add your products’ names and description into the file before importing. Doing so will automatically rename your picture’s file to your product’s name (SEO optimized). Importing the file on your website will match all information into separate products.

Reminder: Snapshop links each photos that you shot with only one product. Even though it lets you shoot as many pictures as you want, you should import your pictures by taping on “Send Pictures to Editing” every time you are done shooting a specific product. If someone shoots 100 pictures of 50 different products before importing, we will have a harder time linking them to each product.

Shooting photos

Most people use a DSLR camera to shoot their products, is my phone good enough?

Your phone is not only “good enough” to photograph your products: it is actually better. Both a DSLR and a mobile phone are able to produce sharp high-resolution images, but using Snapshop’s phone app is better in 3 ways:

  1. It integrates shooting tools made specifically to shoot products (such as the ‘Ghost overlay’).
  2. It spares you from managing files, file names and folders.
  3. It uploads instantly to our photo editing service.

Here’s the resolution of a photo taken with an iPhone compared to a Macbook’s screen resolution…

Do I need a tripod to shoot my products?

While you don’t necessarily need a tripod to use Snapshop’s camera app, we highly recommend stabilizing the phone and using your headphones to activate the shutter (taking the picture). Simply put, when you hold or touch your camera, you may shake it just enough to blur your pictures. While you can review them before sending, blurred pictures are slowing you picture-taking trance uselessly.

For a limited time and to help you get started, we are sending new users a free tripod or, if they already have a tripod, a tripod mount to hold their phone. Contact david@snapshop.cam if you need either.

What is the “Grid” icon for?

The “Grid” icon is located at the lower-left corner of the screen, next to the shutter button. It’s main function is to lay a grid on your preview screen. It helps you align and adjust proportions in your photos. Taping the “Grid” icon also leads you to a menu where you can access the ‘Ghost Overlay’ function.

If you haven’t activated the ‘Ghost overlay’ function, you can to toggle the Grid by clicking on your headphone’s minus button.

What is the ‘Ghost Overlay’ function? How does it work?

The ‘Ghost Overlay’ function is a shooting tool working within the Snapshop app. You can find it by pressing the minus button (-) on your headphone control or by tapping the “Grid” icon on the lower-left corner of the shooting screen, next to the shutter button.

This function makes it possible to select multiple shots you have already taken and overlay them as templates to align your next products by the same angle when shooting.

To select photos to overlay, tap the “Grid” icon, then select the picture(s) you want to use as template. You can either select pictures you just shot with Snapshop or choose from your Camera roll. When you go back to shooting, Snapshop will overlay one chosen photo – one at a time – as template. It will help you shoot your product by the same angle as the last.

To remove or toggle the overlay, simply press the minus button (-) on your headphone control. You may also go back to the “Grid” menu and tap on the “Remove Overlay” button on the upper-right corner.

Can I review the shots I have taken before sending them for editing?

You sure can review all the pictures you have shot for your product before uploading! Just swipe left and right to review. As you can see, it shows which photo you’re at out of the number of pictures you have taken (ex. Photo 3 of 5). You can delete any photo by pressing the “Trash” button next to the upload button.

Photo editing

How can I send you my pictures?

We integrated photo uploading within the app. Just click the “Send Pictures to Editing” button to upload them to our server when you are done shooting a product. Don’t forget to upload each time you are done with a particular product.

How long does it takes before I get my edited photos?

We promise that you will receive them within 2 business days (based on Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm EDT). Our personal record is 2 hours!

Can I send you pictures that I have taken with my DSLR so that you can edit them?

If your shots are already taken and really really really cannot be redone with Snapshop, send an email to david@Snapshop.CAM. We’ll take care of it.

Still, using your DSLR files, you’ll be missing out on the seamless Snapshop experience… and it won’t be optimal for our process of preparing the one-click importation file; you can read “won’t be fun for us”.

I need my photos to have some more editing, can you do it?

We sure can do more modifications! You need to specify which before importing, by taping on “Send special requests” in the app.

We can do the following modifications for an extra $0.50 per modification per picture:

  • Custom cropping ratios
  • Drop shadows
  • Coloring and contrast
  • Image size/proportions
  • Different file format (ex. PNG)
  • Different DPIs
  • Different background color or transparent
  • Combining pictures (higher fee)
  • Transparent mannequin (higher fee)

Importing on your website

What does one-click import actually means?

It means that we provide the only file you’ll need to import on your website all the products you have photographed with Snapshop.

What is on the one-click importation file?

The one-click importation file is a CSV file (a spreadsheet where informations are separated by commas) created using the online spreadsheet document we provide. Since your products are linked to the right pictures within the files, it doesn’t matter how many pictures or products you have: you will only upload one file into your selling platforms to create all your products.

Our sheet is an online Google docs that is accessible from any computer. No matter how tech-savvy you are, it is quite easy to use. All you need to do to import is:

  1. Copy and paste your products’ title and description into the file (on the ‘Data’ sheet).
  2. Export the ‘Importation’ sheet as a CSV file (Select the ‘Importation’ tab at the bottom, then click ‘Files’ menu at the top-right, then the ‘Download as’ sub-menu, and finally select ‘CSV’.
  3. Import the CSV file into your selling platform.

On which selling platforms is the one-click importation supported?

Our one-click import works on the most popular selling platforms, if the one you use is not in the list, please contact us:

  • Shopify
  • Magento
  • Lightspeed
  • WooCommerce on WordPress
  • OpenCart
  • Prestashop
  • Votresite.ca

How is Snapshop able to integrate all 3 steps so seamlessly?

We shook hand with the Devil.
